Both of the infected wells have been cleaned, scrubbed, and disinfected. Well 3, the first well that was cleaned, has completed its holding time process and sample tests have been completed and the well can now be placed back into service. A picture of the sample test is below.
Well 4, the second well cleaned, is still within its holding time process and bacteria samples will be pulled early next week for testing. It will be placed back into service as soon as possible.
We will continue to pull water samples throughout the distribution system to determine whether or not the iron bacteria continues to exist within the distribution system. We will do targeted distribution system flushes in areas where our tests determine iron bacteria may be present or we continue to receive reports of discolored water. We are working with our engineering firm to develop a plan for a systemwide flush in the early spring.
